Huge thanks to everybody who donated a squid or two to the cause. We’ve now raised nearly £4,500; three quarters of the cost of an Odyssey holiday, and we’ll be drawing the two Dragon’s Back DVD winners out of a hat next Saturday 20th July (so there’s still time to donate at http://www.justgiving.com/teams/dragonsbelly).
Nicky, Tim, Chris and Willy completed the full route in somewhere between 63 and about 68 hours; and Dave the slightly abbreviated route in a few hours quicker. You can read Nicky’s report here and view Willy’s pictures here. Lots more pics on the Facebook page too. A truly magnificent five days running and an excellent challenge to take up, whichever way you approach it.
Sat pm, and perhaps the last message (from FB):
Well
what a fabulous week it has been. I am sitting at the side of the
A4069 where I am expecting Nicky’s peloton to cross in less than an
hours time having opted for the full Day 5 course from 1992. Steve and
Dave are already en route for the castle having taken the shorter route
along the Beacons Way. The trackers have been an amazing resource
although we seemed to be in a bit of a black hole in the Elan Valley
yesterday and Nicky’s tracker may not be turned on today as she appears
to be at the Day 4 camp still!! We have raised a significant amount of
money for Odyssey (there is still time to donate to recognise the
tremendous achievements of every one of the team). Hugo Iffla from
Odyssey wilol join us in Llandovery tonight and he met all the runners
on the summit of Cadair Idris on Wednesday in foul conditions where he
cooked them all bacon sandwiches washed down with steaming tea. The
camp crew have been amazing too and have had to contend with swarms of
midges when dismantling the camps so special thanks to Max, Lynda,
Gerald and Tammy.
Friday am: message on Twitter is brief but to the point – D4 All’s well. Lots of horrid tracks today. Yesterday was tough. Tracker seemed a bit confused this morning so pleased to see that.
More info leaking out now at 10.00 – new pictures on Facebook and a message on Twitter “Just to reassure the folks back home – the vegetarians are being very well catered for (including me)”
Thursday 11:40: copied from Facebook –
Just
spent two hours in the communication blackspot that is Abergynolwyn to
surprise the team with an unexpected support point. Thought I must have
missed them so drove round towards Machynllech where I now have a
signal and I can see them exactly where I was fifteen minutes ago –
BUGGER!!
Thursday am: Willy has posted lots of photos to Facebook, looking forward to a very hard day…
Started out at 6.30, currently (9.00 -ish) just crossing Cader Idris – this from the tracker site

Wed evening: tracker shows Nicky at camp 19.18, Willy & Claire 2045 ish.
Wed pm: looking like a long day, at 1700-ish Nicky heading to Diffwys, Willy & Claire south of Rhinog Fawr, still a fair way to go.
Wed am : posted some picures to Facebook

Don’t forget you can follow them at @dragonsbelly13, and see live tracking at maps.opentracking.co.uk/belly13.cfm
Set off Tuesday on the first of five very tough days running down the mountainous spine of Wales. Read all about it and please make a donation at www.justgiving.com/willykitchen
Or text WKDB92 £1 (or £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070 to sponsor me per day … or a job lot of days.
It’s a great charity and your support will really help. Many thanks.
