I wish to give a huge thank you to all the people who helped with my BG this weekend. Tim Rippon pulled togther a support crew from Totley, Penistone and Dark Peak with my added support from Dark Peak and Saddleworth we were able to pull a joint team together. Under what most considered to be rather poor conditions the support was incredible. Unfortunately, due to an ankle injury; caused by the buffetting we were taking from very strong winds coming of Blencathra; Tim had to pull out after leg 2 a very sensible decision when you see the state of his ankle; he was also far to fast and fit for me. All credit to the incredible people involved, who despite it being mainly Tim’s round they supported me all the way round – getting very cold, wet and windswept. Special mention must go to Lucy from Totley who did the road support at every changeover.
This year has taught me a lot and made me realise lots of things – what a great club Dark Peak is and what a great set of individuals Fell Runners are – we may race against each other at times but after that we are ALL friends together and people are always there to support. The weekend showed me what true sport is all about! Thank You to all involved and I must give a special mention to Nicky who has encouraged me and persuaded me to move up to the longer stuff – not sure I had the same sentiment in mind half way through leg 3 just before sunrise or should I say just before daylight as we never saw the sun all weekend.
Once again folks – THANKS!
Keith
