Bob Berzins, who works tirelessly on our behalf with the National Trust, Peak Park and landowners, has rewritten the access guidelines for the website, so if you browse to Members=>Access you will find a summary of our rights and responsibilities under the CROW act, which governs our access to the open moorland areas. Linked from that are pages detailing

  • the restrictions which apply to us, such as annual moorland closures, areas banning dogs, and some voluntary arrangements covering, for example, the bird nesting season
  • a history of Dark Peak with specific regard to access
  • information about the persecution of wildlife on the moors and what to do if you think you have found a problem

Please take some time to read at least the summary, so that the next time you go out you know where you are permitted to run, and thereby help maintain our good relationship with those whose land we run over.
