My name is Garry Tew. I’m an exercise physiologist based at Sheffield Hallam University. I am currently conducting a research study investigating the effects of ageing and fitness on blood vessel functioning. For this, I’m trying to recruit healthy, fit people aged 55-75 years. By ‘healthy’ I mean no diseases, injuries or illnesses and by ‘fit’ I mean people who take part in regular aerobic exercise and are well-trained. Participants will be required to attend two sessions. On the first they will be asked to complete a VO2max (fitness) test on a bike. On the second, they will have the functioning of their blood vessels assessed. The VO2max test will provide useful information about the participant’s current fitness level.
