English championships

The final standings in the English Championships were finalised this week. Our teams accumulated three 2nd places a 3rd and two 4th’s. There were individual medals for Alex Mason 2nd MU23, John Hunt 2nd M55, Keith Holmes 3rd M65, Dave Tait 3rd M70 and 1st M75 last, but by no means least, Majka Kunicka 3rd W40. Congratulations to all of them and the many others who contributed the our team successes.

Men’s open 2nd, with Keswick well clear. Joe Woodley 20th, Nathan Lawson 23rd, Josh Williams 24th, Alex Mason 26th and Tom Saville 28th.

MU23’s Alex Mason 2nd , Chet Gillespie 5th and Finlay Grant 7th.

M40’s 4th, only 3 points behind both Helm Hill and Horwich RMI. Will Boothman 11th and John Hunt 17th.

M45’s John Hunt 12th.

M50’s 3rd, only 2 points behind Helm Hill. John Hunt 5th, Joe Blackett 13th and Simon Patton18th.

M55’s John Hunt 2nd and Joe Blackett 7th.

M60’s 2nd, but as less than four clubs competed in four or more races there is no M60 championship. Andy Barnett 10th and Keith Holmes 20th.

M65’s Keith Holmes 3rd.

M70’s Dave Tait 3rd.

M75’s Dave Tait 1st.

Women’s open 2nd, with Helm Hill well clear. Majka Kunicka 8th, Lisa Watson 23rd , Rachel Rose and Beth Nadin 27th=, Sally Fawcett 30th.

WU23’s Madeleine Davis 9th.

W40’s 4th, 4 points behind 3rd placed Todmorden. Majka Kunicka 3rd, Sally Fawcett 16th.

W50’s Helen Elmore 11th, Jenny Caddick 18th and Alison Wainwright 20th.

Wirksworth Undulator – Dave Beerling writes ‘We got lucky with the weather… it cleared a mile after we set off. Sounds like it was worse at Windgather.’ Results

Saturday 19th November – Club Champs, from Langsett Barn, entries are open.

Saturday 19th November – Tour of Pendle, one of the best races in the calendar which unfortunately clashes with the not to be missed Club Champs. EoD, but pre-entry is much cheaper.

Sunday 20th November – Peak Raid: Goyt Valley.

Saturday 19th November – Baslow Bolt. Pre-entry only.

Sunday 8th January – Trigger. Entries are open.
