My previous column briefly reported the successes of the three winning teams at last week’s FRA relays together with the outstanding individual run by Euan Patton to win Leg 1 outright. Having now had more time to digest the full results, I can also report that:
- DPFR won three of the eight categories at the Relays (FV40’s, MV50’s and MV60’s) and the DPFR ‘A team’ took second in the Open Men’s category.
- For the DPFR ‘A team’: Rhys Findlay-Robinson and Joe Woodley ran the 3rd fastest time on Leg 2 as did Chet Gillespie on leg 4, with the team finishing 2nd overall.
- For the DPFR ‘B team’: As reported earlier, Euan Patton won Leg 1.
- For the DPFR FV40’s: Pippa Wilkie was 2nd on Leg 1, Kirsty Bryan-Jones and Alison Wainwright won Leg 2, Sally Fawcett and Nicky Spinks won Leg 3 and Clare Oliffe won Leg 4.
- The DPFR MV50’s (Leg 1 Mike Nolan, Leg 2 John Hunt and Simon Patton, Leg 3 Stephen Pyke and Mike Robinson, Leg 4 Graham Moffat) won all four legs to win by only a fraction under half an hour.
- For the DPFR MV60’s, whilst Mick Stenton won Leg1 by only a handful of seconds from two of the other M60 teams, crucially he was almost 8 minutes clear of the Helm Hill runner whose team eventually finished a close second. Mick’s success was then repeated by Tim Tett and Andy Barnett on Leg 2 with Paul Addison and Mark Harvey taking 2nd place on Leg 3 behind a very strong pair of Helm Hill runners.
It is also worth noting that the fine runs listed above only lead to team success when backed up by the remaining team members and that the sixth fastest runner in a team is just as important to the overall result as the fastest. Results.
