How to organise your holiday? Carshare’s travel correspondent, Nick Kirk, comes along with this far-fetched tale of an accidental co-incidence.
“During our recent family holiday in Cornwall I accidently stumbled across the following races on Dartmoor and by chance had my running kit in the car! Therefore, I felt obliged to enter the following races:
Sticklepath Horseshoe (7th)
and Oke Croak (5th) “
Next Year’s Countryfile Calendar:- many will have admired the fell photos of Andy Holden, “Wharfee” – he did that superb set recently of Borrowdale, and was lurking around Swirral Edge yesterday on Grisedale. Versatile bloke that he is, he’s got a photo accepted for the next Calendar – we need to look out for a photo of a stoat. The public has to vote for their favourite photo from the 12 selected, so hopefully he may get our support?

Ashford/Thornbridge:-
Ben Nevis:- results.
Grisedale Horseshoe – results.
Ultra Tour of Mont Blanc: to the best of my knowledge (that’s JD…) we have Stephen and Tim Martin entered – link
DT – I’m thinking the course has been shortened, due to the conditions — I think Dave is correct and the course is reduced to 100Km and stays in France. Steve and Tim can be tracked online (JD)
Exterminator:- results
Shelf Moor:- results.
Bradley:- near Skipton. That horrible “just runnable” kind of race, where you can’t pack in and start walking. But a good event, from the excellent village show, with lots of littl’uns races. As happens regularly round here, runners are counted through just before starting, very easily done.
Monday – Trunce (9).
Wednesday –
Summer Sharpener (4):-
Derbyshire Chevin (2)
Ilkley Incline – just blast up the hill for a mile….
Friday – Great Longstone.
Country Diary:– is worth a read, about Dunford Bridge and the River Don.
