:- and even Eccleshall Woods in bluebell time.
:- continuing our Nature Notes theme, Andy Moore “and Mandy went to Halifax to do the Bluebell 10 Trail Race on Sunday – one of my favourites. Plenty of Bluebells, but unfortunately they flash past as you hammer down through Elland Woods before a ‘Grindleford’ type finish through the River Calder. results.”
Old County Tops – Saturday 19th May. If anyone would like a scenic day out, Bob Johnston has“ ‘lost’ my partner for the Old County Tops. Short notice, I know, but if anyone fancies teaming up for a run round, let me know (as soon as possible, I still need to enter!): e-mail. Thanks, Bob Johnston. “
Pendle Cloughs. Results. A recommended race indeed. The usual visit to all parts of Pendle, criss-crossing everywhere, but like The Tour, the running is good, and would be awkward if the clag was down. Cold on the top, a bit of white stuff in the air. Last year, clashing with Calderdale, the race made a loss, so the organiser rightly cut back on prizes to keep the excellent £5.00 entry fee. 80 runners, many more would cause problems for the village, so back to most pleasant race numbers. A welcome return of Steve Storey, getting it back together again.
Coniston:- results link. But as just now, I can’t open the link….. Problem solved, Greg has kindly sorted them out…”A beautiful spring day greeted the 235 starters, bright and breezy with the threat of the odd shower and a sunburnt neck. Several Dark Peak travellers up for the classic Coniston loop – the long climb up Wetherlam, round to Swirl How and along to the Old Man before a hard and fast drop off all the way to the finish field. Apologies to anyone missed off –no club names on the results sheet.”
