Kirkbymoor:- Trevor Milner sends:- “In the lakes for the weekend so went to the Kirkbymoor race, met up with Mike Robinson and
Al Ward for a fast blast on a Peak District style course of tracks, trods, heather and marshy bits with check points around the wind farm with views over the Duddon sands : there was a choice of routes in the last quarter where places could be made if you followed a green vest. The Addisons where at the sharp end with Al getting 2nd V40 in 4th, Mike 5s back in 5th. Worthwhile race if you’re in the area, tea and biscuits and  prizes to 2nd in 10yr vet category.”

Clay Bank West:-  This is N Y Moors again, similar stuff to Lordstones/Wainstones, just starting from the other end. Apparently plenty of snow and ice around, and Joe recovered from his difficult Pendle…Tom Edwards must be settling down well, 3rd, a decent bit ahead of Joe, 4th. Just needed another for the Team Prize…

Rivock Edge:- This is a trig point at the far end of Ilkley Moor. A bit like Black Rocks, in that there’s a horrible flat canal burst to start with. Then the usual muddy fields, woods. Off the top a totally black drop through some forest, and the inevitable canal path home.

Harriers v Cyclists – some manic event, unlike any other. We had a Team, Lloyd, Darryl and me, with Lynn chief encourager. Two others got “done” by the constant Bradford red traffic lights, and unfortunately missed the start – it’s a tedious mid-day journey at the best of times. Results will need the Bingley website.
So we lined up beside the canal, with this immediate steep hillside. Cyclists shot off with bikes on the shoulders, we ran up. Runners fared better on the fields, but on downhills hurtling bikes would come careering past. We thrived on the gritstone climb up Shipley Glen, and so it continued, cyclists either fallen off the path side, or whizzing past, or carrying up the mud. A huge downhill finish, need to use the brakes rather than plunge into the canal.
Rob Jebb was first cyclist, Alistair Brownlee first runner. A far better event than imagined – worth thinking about for another year. Just leave extra time for the travelling!

Nicky and Mark Hartell   (presentation last Saturday night…for the Vasque Series)

nicky_mark . Some enormous achievement, beyond the abilities of most of us. Also a mention for Mick Cochrane, 2nd M60. All you’ve got to do now, Nicky, is defend it…..
