Grindleford : Results have been chased down by Jon, many thanks.
Hope Results:-

Bakewell Pudding Race Results

Parwich:- “A couple of Dark Peakers spotted at this long-running low-key (3.25 mile) event which incorporates a steep hill climb in the first mile, then lot’s of easy downhill running on road and tracks.  Competitors doused and cooled by a cloudburst at the start.  David Harrison (DPFR) carried off the Russell Trophy for first vet in 20:40 (4th overall), passing me (DT – Martin Stocks) on the downhill (5th in 20:50). “
“The other DPFR vest present belonged to Simon Pape (23rd in 23.12)”   photos.

Winster :- Bright sunny evening for this low key race from the centre of Winster village. Much more road and track than green and seems to go up far more than down.
1 Josh MOODY               Matlock  25:02
6 David HARRISON         27:24
15 Andrew MOORE         28.29
20 Trevor MILNER           30:35
42 Pete TAPPING           34:28  (thanks, Pete)

Up Our Way:- Danefield Relay was good – nothing like this in the Peak? Three laps, about 3mile a lap, most people roll up at registration and ask around to sort out teams. Could be done from Langsett?
Pete mentions Winster, where the locals blast off down the road. Last night was Silsden Murder Mile – (similar to William Hill from Grindleford??) . All line up together, loads and loads of children, and slog up this hill for a mile. Great atmosphere, and a longer scenic jog round to the start afterwards.

Summer Series:- Whinstone Whiz   seems like another good night, with Phil Crowson back first. .
Glaramara Results:- with Mike an impressive 3rd….51:44 mins
Langstrath Results:- and now 4th, ….41:55mins.
Blackstone Edge Results:-   They’d tried hard with the event, easy registration etc. We sank in the swamp on the way out, and sank in it once more on the return. Shoes fastened tight to avoid getting eaten by the Swamp Monster. Points scored in all the Men’s teams, keeping things in contention. Those who left early missed the prize giving – you missed out there! In our car one of us had a hosepipe, and fortunately someone else had the nozzle to make it work…..But £4 for the race – full praise to the organisers.

Tideswell :- Just what’s needed, from Trevor Milner:-    “The rain stopped on cue for the well-marshalled  energetic dash round Tideswell dale and Millers dale taking in Litton Mill but trying to avoid the polished limestone on the descents [some didn’t]. Team Taggart,  Mick Stenton and Pippa Wilkie lifted the senior and V40 male and female earthenware prizes, followed by a couple of beers, a top way to finish the working week.”

Whaley Waltz:- Results, report etc in DP Results, so thanks, Andy for all this.

Wetton and Manifold 10km:- Martin Stocks sends:- “Down in the soft South, the Wetton and Manifold 10K was run yesterday.
Didn’t see any Dark Peakers (it’s a long way down South).  Torrential rain from the off – almost caused a riot at the start whilst the organiser insisted on giving us detailed instructions! (including advising us to walk over the cattle grid!  Health & Safety!)  The ‘murder’ mile was made less arduous after the cooling rain (but no less steep).  Results not yet published, but I’m pretty sure that SMAC took first 2 looking at race photos:  (I’m P2  and P36 – #270).

In distant lands, Switzerland, it’s the European Uphill Masters, not sure if anyone is involved. But a reminder of the World Uphill Masters, Czech Republic, on Saturday 6th September. Fly to Prague – the rest can be done by train, but easier to share a car.

Orienteering Help needed:- Steve Matthews asks:- “I’ve been asked to run a mini orienteering course for a local school, and I was wondering if anyone had half a dozen kites and punches they could lend me for a couple of weeks? If anyone is able to help out could they  steversmatt@hotmail.com in the first instance. Thanks.”
