Black Combe Results:- Split Times. These are distinctly preliminary, as people have been disqualified if their dibber didn’t register. I’m presuming, expecting, that this will be sorted out in due course. The V40 and V50 teams out in strength, just need to keep it up throughout a long year. Plenty of time to keep picking up the points needed. The gale blew most of us up to Black Combe – and blew others up to its South Summit. Things must have gone wrong around to White Combe in the clag, leaving the long slog up that last hill, into the full force of the gale. Then blast back down again, avoid getting cragbound, before the weather set in.
Ireland and Three Peaks next – it will do no harm to put entries in for the other races, except Borrowdale (entry after 31st May) and Moel Eilio, (EOD).
Thanks to Jon for his full carload – the reason for the Carshare page.
1997 Results:- I’ve got these, if anyone is interested. Ian Holmes was 1st, Rob Jebb 3rd. Neil Conway was first DPFR, (22nd) in 71:53, with Mark Hayman next in. This year’s times were considerably slower, bad winds and old age creeping in. We also had 1st Ladies Team.
Winter Mondays Last night was the final serious effort:- “Anyone of three people could have won overall with results going their way tonight, but with tired legs from the weekend’s racing and the wet blustery conditions pb’s were out of the question. A tough race tonight, Keith led us out for the first mile, then I took it on, Jim ran me hard and he pulled away on the last bit of the hill but I’d done enough for second place. Finished in the snow and wind. Nick Swift takes first place with Keith in third, less than 11 points separating the first three out of 540 points. Nicky was first lady.25 runners competed in the series. Thanks to Nicky for taking this all on. Next Monday will be a short friendly race before retiring to the Castle pub, all welcome. ”
DT – huge thanks to Nicky for holding it all together, hope that something can continue next year.
High Peak Marathon:- Results.
Steve Matthews has sent:- “Team Mahogany Ridge – the ‘after’ photo…what a great event, although we (MRFR) seem to have dropped a place since it finished. (Better enjoy it now, we may be last by the end of the week!). Since many of the rest of the top 10 teams seem to be sponsored we are open to offers, one of which has already flooded in (thanks Mum).”
Matt Davis sends:- “I was drafted into the Montrail North team a couple of weeks before and the 4th man Mark Richards literally on the day. Weather was a lot kinder than forecast just the couple of hours from Margery Hill to Bleaklow that were grim. We were last off and gradually overtook most teams, the last of them The North Face team just before Bleaklow Stones. The Montrail South team kept up the pressure on us and took a bit of time out of us from Snake to Brown Knoll. But we’d done enough to keep them at bay. The only downside a parking ticket from HP council.”
Ian Roberts Results: just Jim Bell there, 10th.
Grindleford Gallop Results.
