With the changing of the covid rules in England, from 17th May, some changes have been made to the way that Wednesday runs are organised. Maximum group size becomes 30 – in a “covid safe environment”. We will maintain short, medium, long (steady, medium & fast) groups. But pre-sign up is no longer required. Sign-up on the night and sign out after is mandatory.
With larger groups (and a lot of new faces) it is really important that we carefully manage sign in and sign out. It is not good enough to rely on a nod & check that people are in the pub after.
Runners are reminded that it is their responsibility to carry sufficient kit on the hill. The minimum is standard FRA kit – full water proofs, hat, gloves, whistle, map & compass. But the reality is that you probably need more. It is likely that it would take 2 hours plus for Mountain Rescue to get to an injured runner on the hill – that’s a long cold wait! A small survival bag comes highly recommended! Please do remind your fellow runners that it is club expectation they will be carrying the minimum. Its unfair to rely on somebody else to carry your survival gear and equally unreasonable to rely upon someone else to remind your friend.
