Found by Clive, this story in the Guardian is worth bearing in mind if you happen to find a tick clinging to a body part after a run. Also of interest is that Steve Martin did a survey at LAMM 2014. The headline figure is that he estimates that ~60 runners were bitten by infested ticks, the full paper is here.
