As per the recent piece in DP News, Carl Betts and friends are putting on a Mountain Skills Course, free to all DP members, on Sunday 6th Oct, 9am to 4pm-ish. The day will be based at the Pure Outdoor Education Centre in Stoney Middleton, but is intended to be active, outdoorsy, and interactive; so hopefully we’ll get a bit of exercise whilst brushing up on our hill skills and learning some new tricks from old dogs.
Open to all, including newcomers to the club wanting to build confidence in their abilities to survive on the hill when the clag comes down and their peers have disappeared into the night, circumnavigating in ever diminishing circles … or when course mountain medic Ruth B threatens to go tobogganing off another crag. As with the nav courses, this is also a great opportunity to get know some of your fellow brown vested travellers a little better.
There are still a few places left so book your place, or find out more, carlbetts007@hotmail.com Carl or give him a ring. Highly recommended.
