After 3 years for organising Tom Westgate is stepping down and looking to hand over to a new RO. His ideal replacement being, “somebody closer to the sharp end !!”.
The responsibilities of the RO include:
- Planning and setting the route, date, start times, etc.
- Updating the event on the website or passing the required information on to the webmaster to upload.
- Registering runners on the day of the race, taking appropriate details and making sure everyone returns safely.
- Compiling results and uploading them to the website or passing them on to the webmaster to upload.
The Cakes of Bread race is traditionally run on a Wednesday evening and starts form Fairholmes with the route visiting the Cakes of Bead at some point. Apart from that the rest is up to the RO. There are plenty of current ROs in the club that are happy to help and advise if this seems a daunting task for anyone.
Finally, it would be really nice to have a female Dark Peak member step up to take on a RO role as we currently have no races organised by a female member.
