Peris Horseshoe
Yesterday’s Peris Horseshoe was the Long British Championship race. Finlay Grant won the gold medal in the men’s race with Keith Holmes taking silver in the M70 category. In the women’s race Dark Peak blitzed the team event to take gold with Emily Cowper-Coles 4th, Fran Collett 5th, Anna Watkinson-Powell 7th, Lisa Watson 9th and Sally Fawcett 10th all finishing in the top ten women. Sally also won the gold medal in the F40 category with Rachel Rose winning the bronze. Congratulations to all. Results

Congratulations also to Jess Lishman who recently won the women’s Trunce series convincingly, well ahead of second placed Ellie Crownshaw. Austin Frost won the MV50’s. The final tables can be found here.

Stanage Struggle – Emily Cowper-Coles and Jonny Crickmore won their respective races, Felix Watts 2nd with Andy Eades, Evan O’Dwyer and Guy Ward also in the top ten. The Lake District Mountain Trial, an orienteering event was based this year at Orthwaite which is to the west of Great Cockup! Simon Mills, 2nd M40 and 5th overall, together with Matt Harmon and Tom Pape won the team prize. Results

Sunday 29th September – Peak Raid, Wardlow. The first of the four race series. These mini-mountain-marathons are highly recommended for both the initiated and the uninitiated!
Sunday 29th September – Wirksworth Undulator.
Saturday 5th October – Curbar Commotion, a good local race for those not running at the Hodgson Brothers Mountain Relay.
Wednesday 9th October – Hunter Wreck Race, for connoisseurs and the navigationally able. A headtorch is highly recommended.
Saturday 12th October – Langdale, the final Lakeland Classic and one of the finest of all fell races.
Sunday 13th October – Windgather.
Saturday 19th October – British Athletics Fell and Hill Relays, Appletreewick.
Sunday 20th October – Peak Raid, Hayfield. The second of the four race mini-mountain-marathon series.
