At the half way point of the four race British Championship series Finlay Grant is 2nd MSEN and 1st M23. Dark Peak are 3rd MSEN team, a couple of points ahead of Ambleside and Helm Hill and 4th in the M40’s behind Carnethy. However, Carnethy currently have no runners entered in the Welsh counter and so are likely to fall by the wayside. The Welsh counter Measgwm Detour is in Llanberis on 5th August and the championship concludes with Sedbergh Hills on 20th August. Entries are open for both. Individual Standings here and Team Standings here.

Upcoming races

Saturday 15th July – Kerridge Climb, Rainow.

Saturday 15th July – Buttermere Sailbeck.

Sunday 16th July – Kentmere Horseshoe.

Sunday 16th July – Big Stone, Chinley.

Thursday 20th July – Sheldon. A race that could be described as a bit backward as most of the descending is in the first half of the race and most of the climbing in the second. I can also recommend the Cock & Pullet.

Sunday 23rd July – Holme Moss, the hardest(?) of the Peak District races. (The Trigger is also hard, but in a different type 2 way.)

Monday 24th July – Trunce 7.

Wednesday 26th July – Terry’s High 5, Macclesfield way.
