Congratulations to Phillipa Williams (1st), Lisa Watson (10th) and Despina Berdeni (17th) who were the first team at Long Mynd Valleys, the first of the 2023 English Championship races.

Long Mynd Valleys – As well as our outstanding women’s team performance outlined above, Tom Saville (7th), Finlay Grant (8th and 1st MU23), Aiden Smith (21st), Oli Johnson (23rd and 2nd M40) and Henry Webb (24th and 3rd MU23) took 2nd place in the men’s team competition and rumour has it that we also took 3rd place in the M40 team competition. Other podium positions in the age categories by Will Boothman (2nd M45), John Hunt (1st M55) and Sally Fawcett (3rd W40). Next up is Fairfield Horseshoe on 13th May. Results

Saturday 25th February – Wart’s Revenge. Featuring tussocks, water, runnable bits, heather, bogs, wet peat and a pole. What’s not to like?

Sunday 26th February – Hoppits Hill.

Sunday 5th March – Cloud Nine, near Congleton.

Sunday 5th March – Horsehill Tor. Another of the better DPFR races which you need on your cv.

Sunday 12th March – Boz’s Birthday run. A brand new DPFR race from Blackden. It looks excellent and the best racing lines will take a bit of working out.

Saturday 18th March – Edale Circle. Yet another fine DPFR race.

Sunday 19th March – Wolf’s Pit. Pre-entry via Fabian4.

Saturday 25th March – Mourne Marauder, the Northern Ireland counter in the British Championships.

Saturday 25th March – Chicken Run, Hayfield. Eod but pre-entry is cheaper.

Sunday 26th March – Edale Skyline. It’s now full so all new entries will be placed on a waiting list. However, non-runners are always needed for marshalling and other duties. Feel free to offer your services to the race organiser: skyline@dpfr.org.uk
