Tigger Tor – A cool windy but clear day saw 41 Dark Peak Fell Runners tackle this traditional early season pipe opener, run for the first time from Ringinglow and thereby cutting out the road sections. In the women’s race Phillipa Williams, Juliet Downs and Sally Fawcett took the team prize in emphatic style by finishing 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd with Phillipa an impressive 7^th overall and Sally 1^st F40. Alison Wainwright 1^st F50 and Jane Crowson 1^st F60 completed a clean sweep of the categories. In the men’s race Tom Perry and Alex Mason were 3^rd and 4^th behind wide margin winner Steve Franklin of Totley. Results, complete with finishing videos(!) here.

Margery Hill – New RO Tom Brunt writes: “Unusually benign conditions greeted the 31 starters for this classic winter outing (much to the relief of the new race organiser). So for once there was no snow or gale-force winds to contend with, and the two crossings of Abbey Brook were straightforward. At the sharp end of the race Tom Saville and Fin Grant stormed round with Tom coming home first in a remarkable 1:40:55, which is believed to have knocked a sizeable chunk off the race record. The women’s race was won jointly by Lisa Watson and Despina Berdeni, and there were notable age group performances from Messrs. Johnson, Bradbury, Addison and Berry.

See you all again next year, although I very much doubt that the weather will be so amenable.” Results

Saturday 11^th February – Long Mynd Valleys, the first of the English Championship races.

Wednesday 15^th February – Rivelin Landmarks. I’m not certain that Whyming Brook Knoll is a landmark, but it has to be found and visited nevertheless.

Saturday 18^th February – Winter Olympics. Over the summer course but in the reverse direction. Unmissable!

Sunday 19^th February – New Chew. Pre-entry only and it’s full with 9 brown vests in the start list.

Saturday 25^th February – Wart’s Revenge. A favourite for all self-respecting bog connoisseurs.

Sunday 26^th February – Hoppits Hill.
