Rather uninspiring weather conditions over the Christmas and New Year period have perhaps reduced the allure of hunting out obscure trig points. However, two stalwarts in the form of Tom Pape and Nicky Spinks have been undeterred seeking out high scoring trig points in southern Scotland. Barring stealthy late entries it now looks to be a two horse race.

Sam Pole completed 12 trigs including some impressively obscure offerings in deepest Leicestershire and the appropriately named Pole Moor in Shropshire. I should have offered huge bonus points for self-named trigs and then ticked Brunt Knott (just above Staveley for those who haven’t visited this magnificent fell…)
