– Castle Carr. Senior Men – 4th : Ladies – 3rd : Vets – 1st : Much hard work had gone into staging the Relays, very well thought out and organised, and a good setting alongside the dams for runners and spectators. The courses were hard, rough, boggy with lots of tussocks, always hard going. Phil led off strongly for the men, but Tim was unwell throughout the long Leg 2. So despite a gaining navigational Leg 3, too much was left for Lloyd to catch up on Leg 4, with every club putting out a strongest last leg. Bingley were 1st, followed by Horwich and Mercia. Debbie started the Ladies off, but achilles problems hindered Karen on Leg 2. The expected excellent Leg 3 – fastest Leg – came from Jenny and Kirsty, with Liz – fastest Leg – gaining the extra place for 3rd Overall. For the Vets, Steve gave a very good 1st Leg, then a flying Leg 2 from Dave and John – fastest leg. Tim and Joe held the lead on Leg 3 – 2nd fastest Leg. Pudsey, however, were still close at the changeover, but Alan got everything correct on Leg 4 to bring the Team home 1st. Full credit to Calder Vale for staging this complex event.
