Many of you will not know much about this event. It is a relay of 20 legs, teams are required to have a mix of age class runners by a points system, outlined below. This year it will be based at The Grouse Inn in Hathersage (sic). If you are interested in taking part please let Tim Tett know by timtett@ttpca.force9.net or in person.
[I have run in this event several times in my orienteering days and can recommend it as a good day out – JD].
Notes about the race:
This year the race will start and finish at the Grouse Inn in Hathersage. It will have 20 legs, have a total distance of approximately 100k and the normal handicapping system to ensure that a team of varied ages and genders is required.
The course could loosely be described as a figure of eight. Legs 1 – 10 will run the course starting in a more Easterly direction and legs 11 – 20 will start in a more Westerly direction.
The winner will be based on the cumulative time from both loops.
Each team must have a minimum of 20 points based on the following criteria:
3 points male/female age 13 years or less on race day.
2 points male/female age 14 to 17 on race day.
1 point male 40 to 49 on race day.
1 point female 35 to 45 on race day.
2 points female 45+ on race day.
2 points male 50+ on race day.
2 additional points for female runners e.g 52 year old female = 4 points.
Points count only once for runners running more than one leg.
