Twelve Trigs of Christmas

Tom Brunt came up with this excellent idea for an informal competition over the next three weeks. Details in the News section of the website here. The question as to whether or not Stanage Pole is a Trig Point or not has already been posed. It is marked as such on O.S. maps but there is no triangulation pillar. Some Googling has revealed that it is an “Intersected Station”. Intersected Stations are “pre-existing structures, such as church towers, weather vanes etc, which were surveyed to where an installed mark would not be visible”. Every day’s a school day!

Lakeland Classics

Langdale is an English Championship counter next year so the Lakeland Classics Trophy races will be:

4th June Duddon

11th June Ennerdale

25th June Buttermere

9th July Wasdale

6th August Borrowdale

17th September Three Shires

Best three performances to count, that must include a minimum of two ‘Super Longs’. The Super Longs are the first four races. More details here.
