Our governing body England Athletics put on quite a lot of training and development programs. These two both look like topics that would benefit the club if people wish to partake…
1) Leading Athletics – for younger runners who aspire to be leaders:
https://www.englandathletics.org/coaching/qualifications/leading-athletics/
2) Club Leadership Program – for current committed members and aspirant committee members:
https://www.englandathletics.org/clubs-and-facilities/our-programmes/club-leadership-programme/
If anybody is keen to participate in either of these, please contact Lewis Ashton or another committee member.
Upcoming events
Wednesday, 19th May – Cakes of Bread. Classic fare from Fairholmes.
Wednesday, 19th May – Blackstone Edge. 50@50 race in Lancashire. Pre-entry only and it’s full.
Saturday, 22nd May – Half Tour of Bradwell. Pre-entry only.
Saturday, 22nd May – Fairfield Horseshoe. 50@50 race. Sold out with four brown vests on the starting list.
Past events
Ashop Horseshoe TT – The second running of this race was run anti-clockwise, an improvement I think as it gives two good fast running descents. Tom Brunt (1:15:33) broke the course record and Martha Hart won the women’s race simply by turning out! There were also age category records for Nick Kirk (M50 – 1:36:00), John Webber (M60 – 1:39:53) and Mick Cochrane (M70 – 2:04:42).
