Congratulations to Josh Williams who clipped 11 seconds off Tom Brunt’s record for the Kinder Trigs route. Josh’s time was 2:23:24 and his Strava shows a distance of 22.52km with 1,218m of ascent. Details of the route can be found on the ‘Other Challenges’ tab of the Bob Graham page on the website here.
One of my correspondents informs me that the Kong Scottish Mountain Marathon on Arran has been postponed from June 2021 to June 2022.

He also pointed me at an item about the late George Littlewood, he died in 1912 and who can lay claim to being Sheffield’s greatest distance runner. He still holds the world record for 6 day walking 531 miles. He also held the record for 6 days running 623 miles at Maddison Square Gardens in 1888, a record that stood for 96 years . He is buried in Darnall Cemetery, his gravestone has fallen over and requires restoration. The Friends of Darnall Cemetery would appreciate the running community supporting this project. Any surplus funds can go towards an interpretative board if appropriate and the work of the group restoring the cemetery. The fundraiser is here.
