Race 9 was the first of the four times that we’ll race Route 3 that goes to, round and back from The Headstone. With 15 runners, this was the smallest Sprunce field to date which I hope is a reflection that there is now more in the way of other things to do and places to visit. Jon Morgan (34:34) and Sally Fawcett (37:36) set the fastest times.
As anticipated, several people reported difficulties in finding the quickest route. My advice is to drop down to the Rivelin dams from The Three Merry Lads, run up Wyming Brook Drive until it crosses Reddicar Clough, turn left immediately after the bridge steeply up a faint trod ducking under a tree branch to reach and follow the path heading westwards up Head Stone Bank. At the wire fence, turn right and follow a trod for 50 yards and pass through the right hand of the two wooden gates and continue along the path to The Headstone, run round it and set sail for home.

Race 10, over the same course, is already open.
