Upcoming events:

Saturday 18th July – Bole Hills Bad Boy. Unlike the TT league races, this has to be run on Saturday and can be started at The Sportsman, Ringinglow, the A625 below Houndkirk Hill or the lay-by a few hundred yards away at the north end of Stony Ridge. From memory, there’s a lot less walking on the Bad Boy than there has been, for me at least, on some of the recent Time Trials. I’ll be setting off from Ringinglow at 08:00 and intend to attend a de-brief with the R.O. at The Sportsman soon after 12:00.

Until Thursday, 16th July – Tha Sprunce (Race 8 Route 2). This is the last time that Tha Sprunce will be raced over Route 2. From Friday 17th July and for four weeks thereafter, we’ll be running Route 3 to the Headstone and back. Last week in Race 7, Sally Fawcett went sub 40 to lower her own course record, which she seems to manage every week. Pete Davies set the fastest time of the week and Pete Gorvett chalked up another success for the Vet 70’s by narrowly winning the handicap.

Past events:

The Alport Watershed TT, impressively won by Pete Davies (1:35) and Majka Kunica (1:57), was completed just 19 runners. This race, and all these TT’s are highly recommended outings and I urge all club members, new and old, to run them if possible. My outing was one of two contrasting halves. After having reached Bleaklow Stones in good order I took a wrong turning whilst daydreaming in a grough on the HPM route towards Bleaklow Head which cost a minute or two and then ran out of steam on the rough and seemingly interminable run (shuffle actually) back along the southern side of the Alport valley.

Last week, after the Four Springs TT had to be postponed because of bird nesting access restrictions, Glen Borrell laid on the Blackden Skyline TT. This was an excellent little race, so good in fact that I ran it twice. The reason for this was not unconnected with the fact that I failed to visit Mad Woman’s Stones on my first attempt. Results have now been posted.
