FRA Night. Huge compliments are in order to Pennine for hosting this year’s extremely successful event, and especially to Alan and Alison Brentnall for all their endeavours, and through their difficult club times. Medals were duly acquired, Rob Little could help over Senior Men, not sure who has the Vets, Spyke?, and Gavin/Mick/Richard would help with the V50’s. As for the Ladies, they took the same approach as to their running, they turned up in force and duly collected.
Next year is Clayton, following the Tour of Pendle. After that a willing club host is needed…….
The evening was duly “enhanced” by the sartorial elegance of Calder Valley’s male section – probably eclipsing our worst efforts when raiding the Mourne Mountains charity shops…Fortunately pictures are, just yet, unavailable….
FRA Officials :- It’s several big changes now, and as Madeleine moves from Treasurer to Chair (Chairman, Chairwoman or whatever…) , we need to be extremely grateful for the efforts and committment of our last Chairman, it’ssurely no easy task and there are some big issues lurking around. Big thanks, Graham. And also to Margaret, having done the Calendar since time long since. Best wishes to Andy Butler for taking on another time-consuming and difficult task.
Kinder Bimble – results.
Tour of Pendle. results. Cold, but generally clear and the wet cleared away. Another large entry for this popular race, well organised as ever. No tags now, and the recording of numbers seemed to keep a better check on the runners should anything go wrong. At CP9, below the final climb, there was a group of 4, but Carl Bell cleared off somewhere to win it all. A group following along seem to have returned via the outrun, missing the final CP. Oops! Nicky was 1st Lady, 1st Vet, first anything else you may think of. Our happy band of runners were seen gainfully disappearing up Pendle’s final climb, (spurred on by Carshare’s best wishes…)
Sunday – Arnside Knott – Lakes.
Lakeland Classics this should? be a record of all our Lakeland Classics completions. A glance through might suggest that John Hunt needs to have a good few coffee mornings to get all his mugs used….
