Tour of Pendle. Our so many regulars will be as upset as me to learn of Doreen’s death last Sunday. With Kieran they’ve been doing that race since time long since past.
FRA Presentation Night. Details etc. On Saturday 12th November, Huddersfield. Much nearer than ever before, so surely lots of medallists and extras can be there? Not that often we have a Senior Men’s winner…..
Lakeland classics 2011. results
Lakeland Classics – this is the all-time list of people completing the Series.
Lewis rounds it all up. “A very healthy 14 finishers for the club. Mike Robinson squeaked in ahead of Jon Coe – equal on points, but higher in the order based on an unknown count-back or rounding criterion; for 4th and 5th. John Hunt also making it into the top 10 for the M&V40 category. Further down the rankings, Willy put behind him an initial fright on Ennerdale, to put a sizeable gap between himself and your correspondent in the overall results. He even managed a final flourish in the last race too. Unfortunately, Nicky just lost out to Hazel Robinson for the women’s title at the last race, finishing in 2nd. Out of 17 finishers in the L&LV40 category, 3 were Dark Peak – a substantial proportion of the field.
Dark Peak lost out to a very consistent Borrowdale for the team prize. This was a first time for me in the Trophy. I’d set out to complete the series for the start and I’m glad I did. It was a great way to spend a summer. Quite a few ‘nice to do’ races had to fall by the wayside to get me through, but the quality of these races and the experience of coming back to the central lakes repeatedly all year have made for a memorable season. Carshare worked a treat, enabling a very sociable series and the opportunity to get to know quite a a few people a lot better. I highly recommend the series as an objective for anyone who may be searching for a plan for next year.”
Kielder Marathon – not long ago. So this fellow runs 20miles, gets on the bus to near the end, and then runs through the finish to take 3rd place, and accept the prizes….Surely no such cheating at the Club Championships? (or visiting Hayfield…)
Saturday:-
John of Gaunt Challenge . It’s a LDWA event , flattish, around the Washburn Valley above Otley. A pleasant trip round our nearby reservoirs. Being low-key, and usual LDWA, how nice it is to gather piles of cake and biscuits at a CP, rather than scrat about with jellybabies….
