Ilkley Incline. results. One mile uphill, usually needing a fast start to get away from the midges..unfortunately Carshare didn’t get away with a fast start, and couldn’t avoid the midges. A good, completely knackering event….

Shelf Moor. - Men’s Results. The final English Championship race. Rob Hope was first, and Champion, just 4 seconds ahead of Lloyd in a sprint finish, leaving Lloyd 2nd overall, and 1st V40 Champion. Rob Jebb taking 3rd place overall. Pudsey were 1st team, and Champions, so Senior Men close, but 2nd. Vets should be 1st today, and 1st overall, V50’s should be 1st today, and 3rd overall. Sorry, can’t help with the Ladies teams, can someone help out please?
It’s a worthy Championship course, very well organised. Dry, windy going up to the trig point, but the trip home getting progressively faster.
The final event will be British – Black Mountains. I can’t help with this, never done it and regret to say I can’t find the enthusiasm to trek down to South Wales, (though had there been a V50 Team calling, I’d have travelled..)
Cake Competition:- John Hunt set the pace with a magnificent Blackcurrant contribution, rivalled by Wharfedale’s Marmalade Cake, and Pennine’s Welsh Something Cake. The official judge’s verdict is a triple tie for first place.
Relays – these are looming up, Ian Hodgson (8 in a team) – 3rd October, we have Senior Men and Ladies, Vet Men. An excellent event, worth going to even if you’re not in a team, plenty of Patterdale hills to trot round.

Exterminator – results. “Firm and dry underfoot gave fast running for the Exterminator. Although warm and humid in the tree lined valleys, there was a cooling breeze on the tops and the threatening rain held off. There was plenty of welcome support on the course; smiles, photos and the odd jelly baby from club members and friends. Mick Stenton won overall , Laura Gibson (Totley) won the ladies . Prizes for Steve Storey and Mick Cochrane too.
Men’s team: Dark Peak – Mick Stenton, Steve Storey and Mark Tucket
Ladies team: Totley. And a clean sweep of the ladies prizes for Totley.”
