Vanessa Chappell – results “Stuart Bond took the honours again (after having placed second at the huge Chatsworth 10K at the weekend in 32 minutes ish!). A few other brown vests present on what turned out to be a pleasant evening
after the rain. Full marks to Goyt Valley Striders for resurrecting the race. Organisation 10/10. Soup and a roll afterwards was very welcome. Route was not too obvious in places (and probably cost Stuart a minute having to retrace, but still winning comfortably).”
Badger Stone Relays – (Ilkley) – results – a need for something similar in the Peak? A very good little event, three Legs each of 2 moorland miles for the Seniors, (37 teams) and 1 mile each for the Juniors (14 teams). Thankfully well flagged wandering over to the Badger Stone, one of these heavily engraved Cup and Ring rocks on’t moor.

Old County Tops:- results. For us, 10hrs in the full sun, hardly any cloud cover, which made it a very difficult trip round. Starting at the New Dungeon Ghyll, over to Helvellyn, to Scafell Pike and lastly Coniston Old Man. Thankfully plenty of streams in the first two parts, but very dry and thirsty from Cockley Beck over Grey Friars. Some results will be on DPFR results, these will be added to when full results are out, expected to be this midweek. Lots of our runners, first pair were Karen and Pete (9th) – and First Team overall.
And there was me thinking there would be a DPFR cafe at Angle Tarn, sadly the cafe had left by the time we duly arrived.
Marvellous help from everyone at the Wythburn and Cockley Beck refreshment stops.
“nearly a third of the field retired, some suffered from heat exhaustion.”
Glaramara. – results

Keswick Triathlon:- anyone there this year? Indeed there was:- Andy Moore sends:- “Me, Helen Barnett and Adam Jackson flew the flag/brown vest at the Keswick Triathlon. The highlight of the race was a chap that competed in a Borat Mankini and despite amusing hundreds of fellow competitors, tourists and walkers, was disqualified on 3 counts (nudity, not displaying race number properly and bringing the sport into disrepute), just going to show what a petty, narrow minded sport Triathlon can be. results . Whilst I awaited Mandy to return from Blencathra, I popped down Borrowdale and did the Glaramara Fell Race, 2 hrs after finishing the Triathlon and whilst the terrain was certainly not suited to me, I did not spit my dummy out as in previous Lakes Races, but the highlight was the swim at the end!”
Next Weekend:- Ian Winterburn “is not going to Jura - I’m heading to Knoydart/Torridon area on Thursday morning probably returning Tuesday Evening, any one want to carshare part or all of the way, or would like to join me on some big days out.? e-mail “
Trunce 5 Parking:- This has come from Andy Plummer. “Could be a parking problem on the Trunce 5 – 14th June (and possibly for the 2 after that as well). Just received an email from Oxspring Parish council saying :-
"I am writing to notify you that construction work to repair the Culvert beneath Oxspring playing field is due to start on the 14th June, and will continue for approximately 2 months. During this time parts of the field will be out of bounds, and access onto the field with cars may not be possible at all. The start date may slip by a week or so depending on supplier lead times, this will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. I am aware that there is a race on the 14th and will therefore email you as soon as the start date is definite. I expect the car park to be useable but cannot guarantee this. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
To alleviate potential problems could you please try to limit the number of vehicles used.
Thanks for your cooperation. Andy
Langdale:- is far distant, 9th October, but it’s popular and entries are being taken. Entry Form. List of entrants.
