Caw – results Rhys “reached the summit of Caw first but Ben (Abdelnoor) was too strong on the return. Great route with a small but perfectly formed field. Wet on the flanks of Caw but extensive booze-filled prize list. Recommended!”
DT – these midweek Lakes races are a step up from Peak midweeks, Caw – AM. 6ml, 1800ft, and Dockray, AM, 6ml, 2000ft….
Dockray-Hartside:- results. was a cracking race. £1.00 entry, no prizes, which seems perfect to me. Anyone remember the AL Dockray-Helvellyn race, which was one of the original four Superlong Lakeland Classics? It was Championship in 1998, and our runners were Mark Hayman (9th) – anyone in touch with Mark these days?. DT, Jacky Smith and Clive Last. 4 runners, and compare that with Coniston – how the club has improved over recent years.
So we started the same, with a horrible mile of gradually uphill road, but then let loose on open fell, no marshals, touch the cairn at each CP, wobble up Hartside and try to find the right local to get back to the finish. race report.
Keswick Half Marathon:- Carshare notices that Phil is going well on these roads, winning the half-marathon.
Tiger’s Todger - results. “looking at the FRA handbook, Stuart Bond’s old record for the Todger was 32:54 (2009). He finished this year in 31:50. Whilst this must in part be due to surface "improvements" on the course and dry conditions under foot, this ought not detract from a good effort taking more that a minute off the time for a short race!”
Coniston Results – Are out, but no Age Category, Ladies and Ladies Vets both 1st : Senior Men and V40 – both 2nd. V50’s – 7th..
Holme Moss – English Championship. (18th July). Entry form is here.
Crowden Horseshoe :- results.
News like this, from Lewis, helps so much for those who couldn’t be there…”Crowden was a chilly and breezy affair, but the rain held off (and there was only a vague flurry of snow). Rocky running up the Pennine way to Soldiers Lump. Then a flagged route down the ridge over (and in) the Moss, to a final fierce drop into the finish. A pretty good turn of from the club.
1st Tom Bracegirdle 65:55
1st Lady Helen Thorburn
2nd Shaun Dimelow 66:36
3rd Richard Bradbury 68.13
12th Steve Storey 70:10 – 1st V50
V55 – Keith (after Coniston…)
V60 was won by Mick Cochrane
Rich Bradbury (running incognito) had to decline the Derbyshire champion’s crown, on the basis that he may run for Matlock, but a Sheffield address doesn’t qualify him.”

DT – Crowden must have been better than Hillsborough?
Coniston – English Championship (2).
– Video – these good videos are getting even better….
A classic race. Warm, dry, but it gradually changed to hail for us slower runners on Old Man. As is now the usual case, lots of DPFR support, good to have the Ladies out this year. Our driver wanted to get away, so no idea of the results. Ian Holmes was first, looks like he made the most of that rough descent – as usual. Seniors should have done well, and also the Vets. V50’s are struggling this year, but enough of us got round. No idea of how the Ladies went on. Hopefully more news will come through as people return, and results shouldn’t be long.
– Nicky has sent the link to photos of mainly DPFR runners..
– Next is Ennerdale, if anyone needs advance recce notes, just send through…
Stuc a Chroin – someone is usually there… results Indeed, a visit from Tim Hawley.
