Ian Winterburn “ came up with this idea whilst training for my BG in 2008. Whilst we have hard rounds on Kinder in the form of the Dozen and the Killer and long tours like the 4 County Tops and the 15 Trigs we didn’t have a hard tour round the Derwent Valley which is a natural circuit. I spent a year or so linking places that the Warts visit and where Dark Peak races go and added to the places that I like to run to. The route has plenty opportunity for route choice and navigation, It covers deep heather , tussocks, grass, rocks and tracks, fast descents and steep climbs. I’ve built in plenty of water stops which were much needed today. For those who are thinking of a BG in the future this would be an Ideal training run. A full account will appear in the next Newsletter. But in the mean time it would be good to get a few repeats.
