Calderdale Hike Results – from 10th April. No clubs are listed, so I’ve not waded through them…
Really Wild Boar:- A shame this is so far away for Peak runners, going up Wild Boar Fell, opposite the Howgills. A real AS classic, starting in the middle of nowhere. A track to start, then across the flat top, and a pathless fast drop back down some boggy valley. Ian Holmes was first, following on from his two Bunny Run wins. More spot prizes than official prizes, a most welcome trend. Results.

English and British Championships. Both have started well, but there’s so many races still to come. Teams can’t rely on a threadbare handful of runners, so please keep an eye on the FRA Calendar to see how you could possibly help.
For the British it’s getting our teams out, and hope to score points where others may not travel. Next British is the essential short – Sedbergh Three Peaks, 26th June, (entries can go in now), then Dollar (Scotland) – 31st July. This could be the place to score points, if Borrowdale and Calder Valley just rely on their Ireland wins. Finally it’s Black Mountains (Wales) – 25th September – reputed to be a good event and worth the trip.
British after Silent Valley:- I should have given praise to Judith, 3rd LV40, just behind Liz, and to Zanthe – 2nd LU23. Ronnie Gallagher won the V50, to be followed by five V60 runners – either the V50 was weak, or the V60 is extremely strong…. Positions are on the FRA website.
BOFRA Fixtures:- The Calendar is worth looking through. These are excellent events, short and sharp, and usually with good junior races thrown in. All EOD, often from a village show or similar, and could be fitted in with a visit – many of the classics around our Yorkshire Dales.
