Snowdonia Marathon:- John Hunt sends “After losing my partner for the OMM and not finding a replacement, I needed to put into action my fallback plan to "spend" all this high mileage training. I went and did the Snowdonia Marathon on Saturday, for a road race it’s pretty full on and awesome. Sorry as a road race I was wearing my road runners colours, first old man and 6th overall though. Hard earned training well spent.”
DT – 2hrs 54 mins is right impressive, but slower than that bloke running up the Eiger North Face. Maybe John should have had axes and crampons?
OMM- Elan Valley .
Reports Results (look in Maps and Timings). With so many classes and all that, complicated for me to work out. Elite Class – Jon Morgan was 2nd, Oli and Rob Baker – 4th. John Coe was 5th in Class A. Any news etc most welcome. (If you’ve been missed off DP Results, please let us know…)
Three Classic North Faces. Have a look at this video clip . 2hr.47mins for the Eiger : 2hr.21 for the Grandes Jorasses . 1hr 56 for the Matterhorn….
Passing Clouds:- Results. “Passing Clouds was good for prizes – all the way to MV65 in 5 year groups, plus ladies, plus team (Dark Peak of course). “
Nicky in Faraway land. . “ Nicky is racing in the Grand Raid Reunion. This is a small island just East of Madagascar. AL 90 miles and 9,000m. It’s a bit like racing round the BG with 20 miles added on.
Race website –
2nd Vet Lady finish in a time of 33h49mn39s.
DT – that must be one of the best DPFR achievements of all time? Superb!
Withins Skyline:- not for me, still hurting from the FRA Relays slip. Never mind the Outer Edge Bog Monster, it’s friend, the Top Withens Slab Monster seems to have claimed some victims…(there’s a puddle between some paving slabs which conceals a nasty deep hole…)
Worksop Half Marathon…. results
Runfurther Vasque Ultra running championships . These results show that “ Mick Cochrane won the V60 category and Nicky Spinks finished second in the Ladies Open category. Also worth a mention, Julie Gardner recorded the most number of finishing points of all the Ladies, almost doubling her nearest rivals.” (thanks, Greg…)
Blackamoor Users :- Thanks to Lewis, for "Sheffield Wild Life Trust, who manage Blackamoor are conducting a user survey. I’m sure many of the members, who are more or less regular users of the area may wish to contribute.
DT – this link is worth looking through, lots of stuff about Blackamoor, and filling in the survey will surely be of help..
Pennine Bridleway – Jan 31st:- Lynn has “just had an e-mail to say that entries will be open for the Pennine Bridleway relay on Nov 1st. I think this is a great event, it’s similar terrain to Calderdale but the logistics are a bit simpler, there are loads of prizes and a really good atmosphere with a big sports hall where it all starts and finishes with food and drink all day. It’s only 5 legs and there is a bit more daylight than at Calderdale so it doesn’t involve starting and finishing in the dark!”
So is anyone interested? “We need to get Calderdale over really before we start sorting out teams, just need to know what team categories to enter. “. If you’re keen, could put a team together, etc, please contact Lynn ycca@supanet.com or I can pass things along..
British Championship 2010 – Ireland. The Irish lads were talking about this at the relays. It’s AM, traditionally the excellent Donard/Commedagh, but a change next year. Still to be finalised, but maybe starting from the Silent Valley. This would be one of the most scenic race starts ever, rather like from an open Fairholmes, around the dam overflow. Must be a total classic…
