FRA Relays – Ennerdale Results and splits
Photos lots and lots – here are some…
All 4 teams in the medals…Extremely difficult to see on the later three legs, all needing accurate navigation. Our Leg3 – it all seems so easy afterwards, studying the map carefully over breakfast. But ….teams coming from everywhere. Those who’d had a chance to look at their route benefitted greatly. A right good event, lots of work putting it all on, and CFR got it right in every way.
As for the disq’s – there can’t be many grumbles, as we need to visit every checkpoint. But compare this with Tebay, where the leading runners missed Rispa Pike, but the result stood…….There are many reasons for the two decisions taken, let’s just back the organisers and officials and move on.
The results show 39 teams as not finishing or being disqualified.
Video of final Leg 4 descent, Mercia’s Tim Davies….
A big thanks to all the Team Organisers, never an easy task, and they’ve sorted it all out so very well.
V50’s Team:- Dave Allen put in a safe Leg 1, at least he could see the route. Then Keith and Mark round the long Leg2 good enough. Leg 3 navigation was hard, a distinct wobble on two of the CP’s, but perhaps we didn’t get as much lost as others. Paul Addison worked wonders, with no help from me, to get us round. Then a flying fastest Leg 4 from Steve Storey. Big thanks, Keith, for sorting everything out – and bringing home a medal. For some of us, at long, long last.
2010 – “Next year’s Relays should be on Oct 16th, in the Lomonds of Fife, based (I think) on the village of Falkland – venue for the long established Devils Burdens Relay.” – thanks, to Malcolm for this (Comments…).
Lakeland Classics:- – updated after Three Shires, and confirmation that we’re 1stTeam, (Borrowdale couldn’t improve on their maximum score at Borrowdale Race..) Completions look to be:-

Matt Hulley - 8th Dave Tait - 64th
