Lingmell Dash – “Just Phil Walters and Matt there for DPFR, Phil came home in about 84 mins, full results not up anywhere yet.”
DT – I’m suspecting that this hides a modest write-up by Matt, so well is he running. Probably another flier to be announced.
Trunce (7) results.
Y Garn. results and photos Seems to me that all is not well with the current format of the British Championships. Borrowdale was over-subscribed, whereas Y Garn had a field of 78 Men, and 25? Ladies. Looks like they need to get in line with the 5yr age groups and Team Competitions successfully going in the English Championships. A shame, because this is a superb AS race, lots of work had gone into it by the organisers, with little reward for them. Dry, warm, clear, no kit needed. Quite understandably, many regulars didn’t travel, but that meant points were going freely for those who needed them. John Hunt was 1st V40, and leaps into 4th overall. Steve Bell – 2nd V40, and bounds up enormously to top ten. Mike Egner – 2nd V50, and takes 3rd Medal Position. DT – 1st V60, to craftily sneak 3rd Overall. And great to have Keith back in, running well once again, with races and relays to come.
Though Team Points weren’t vital, we may have wobbled a 2nd Seniors place, definitely 1st Vets, and 1st unofficial V50.
DPFR by far the best Cakes, stuffing a “feeble” effort from Calder Valley, (but they had loads and loads of runners travelling) with premier place going to Gill Egner’s home baking. Showdown will be after Langdale, where we’ll see what C Valley and Pennine can come up with..
Dent is vital, so hope we can have a full force out in every category. Substitutions? Just as important are the “next-counters”, who can squeeze out runners from other clubs….
With Relays looming up, Dent is the ideal race to be stating a claim. Nothing more has developed over the allocation of teams, so presuming our V50 Team will go ahead? Not heard otherwise….so…..
Borrowdale. – results Looks to have been a lot slippy? Wet underfoot?
Round Hill another clear win for Matt Crane, this race just above Otley.
Dapper TV Star. Ian Winterburn “has just watched Country Tracks which was based in the Peak and it had Ben Fogle on, interviewing a very dapper Jim Fulton. There is a repeat of the show on later and it will appear on I-Player later.Enjoy! link. He’s on after 30 minutes talking about sheep dog trials at Longshaw…”
Sheffield Rat Race. “Jon Morgan, Tim Austin and Neil Northrop won the inaugural Sheffield Race over 2 days this weekend. The principal sports of running, biking and orienteering were supplemented with an interesting combination of the following: kayaking, abseiling, climbing, karaoke in City Hall, dancing on a podium in a night club, poetry recital, skateboarding, luge in a rubber ring down the ski slope, swimming, penalty shoot outs and try conversions at Don Valley Bowl, caving at Magna, BMX skills and hill intervals. We were cat and mouse on day 2 with Team Accelerate, but we outsprinted them on bikes up the final hill. A lot of fun!”
DT – all sounds most interesting in every way!
