.BOFRA – Beamsley Beacon . results.  This is the hill opposite Ilkley Moor, from Addingham. I now realise it’s infamous for “Nettle Alley” on the way back, a sunken gully between two high banks with nettles all over. The worst had been hacked back, but still stings up to shoulders. Prizes needed to be bundles of dock leaves…

Anyone got the Grindleford Results?

Three Peaks Yacht Race:- “Janet McIver is racing in the 3Pks Yacht Race with Caroline Bullard from Accelerate. They are on Hazard Chase. They are currently in 3rd spot after a disappointing start which had them in 14th place at Whitehaven. All the yachts got held up at the Mull of Galloway until the tide changed. Some yachts were even swept backwards. Greg Marsh is also on board, the Skipper of Vlad. It now comes down to a straight drag race to fort William and a climb of the Ben. There are another 10 yachts within 5 miles of each other so it’s very close. You can see how they are doing in real time by clicking on this link – they are on yacht no 6.
  (thanks, Ian…)

Calton:- Martin Stocks “has not got full details   But first man was Paul Mannion (Ashbourne RC),with a new course record of 34:35 (I think).  Kate Bailey of Meirionnydd was first lady (10th overall) in 39:05 and your correspondent was 11th in 40:05.  I think that full details will come out on SMAC site some time.
The course was nearly all on grassy tracks, with a steep climb and descent off Cart Low (silly name for a hill if you ask me).  Very enjoyable race tucked away alongside the Hamps Manifold Valley, with the whole village providing support and tea and cakes afterwards.”

BG – Congratulations to everyone involved, running or supporting.
“Big thanks to all my amazing friends in Dark Peak, Totley and Penistone for making my BG success possible and even enjoyable. Extra big thanks to Richard for making it all happen. Helen.”
And also see Becky’s Comment – and Mick’s.

Tebay:- English Championship (3) It seemed like a lot of hard effort getting round this. Clear, nicely cool and not much route finding trouble for most of us, though apparently the front runners missed CP2…..Grassy Howgills, quite wet after heavy midweek rain. The last climb of Blease Fell went hard, but then a long, long run in.
Simon Bailey crossed the finish line first. Many thanks everyone, for representing. Wasdale next –

Those Pennine Scoundrels

So I’ll be down at t’Palace with me DPFR vest on….
I’m going to take some stick from this. Flights are scheduled from Leeds/Bradford to Tebay….

.Y Garn:- having the duplicate race, as last event, might be a turn-out disaster. Y Garn or Borrowdale? I’ll go to Wales, more for a new race and a few days away than in hopes of points. But if you’re thinking of going, entries need to be in by June 30th, using the Welsh Entry Form.
