As ever, many thanks to the people who are copying down results from the trusted sticky labels, please keep them coming…
Belvoir Marathon “Rhian Evans was the 2nd lady here, her first ever marathon!. I, Sam Williams was the 30th bloke. It was a great run and mostly off road. Another club member, Dave McGuiness did the 15mile route .”
DT – thanks Sam – worth pointing out that we’re interested in whatever anyone is up to, not just fell stuff.
Cloud Nine Results. “Record turnout (427). Well organised with showers, soup and roll, tea and cakes afterwards. A very fast course, all runnable, lots of road and track. Lloyd 1st, John Hunt 4th, Martin Stocks 39th, Dave Allen 69th, Mick Cochrane 94th.”
DT – some more on DPFR Results….
Bleasdale Circle. “Very wet and muddy under foot on the way out and in, visibility was poor, Lloyd’s record was always going to be safe. 1st – Danny Hope : 6th – Mike :13th – Richard Wren.”
New Chew Results – Unusually good weather for this event, prizes this time round for Roger Slater (M50) and Nicky & Steve (pairs). Even in these good conditions some of us managed to lose upwards of 15 minutes to poor navigation, and with a 3 point/minute penalty that is not to be recommended! There will not be an orienteering style New Chew next year, it will be replaced by a running of the ‘traditional’ Chew Valley Skyline race.
High Cup Nick Results– Ian:- “We went up today to run the stunning High Cup Nick Race with it’s tremendous views and amazing scenery – unfortunately the weather wasn’t playing along and we had low clag/drizzle and brisk cold wind. 141 runners were on the start line of a surprising high class field with a large number of top class male and female runners. The route up is a cracking 2000ft of ascent, all runnable up tracks, trods and open fell with deep boggy sections, walking only the steep last 2-300ft where the rocks were incredibly slippy, Although Dave Taylor had disappeared in to the mist with the lead group, Ashley, Keith and myself all topped out at the ‘Nick’ within 10m of each other. A rocky slippy descent followed by eyeballs out grass made for a cracking finish. A brilliant race and well worth the trip despite the weather.”
Noonstone Results. just Jim Bell, 39th, and Geoff Kirk, 73rd.
