OMM – There’ll be lots said over this, should it have been cancelled, etc. A lot reminiscent of Borrowdale last year, when the Mountain Rescue preferred the race not to go over Scafell Pike. Not being there, I’ll not get involved…
Maybe worse conditions have been previously encountered, without “thousands” of runners stranded on the mountainside…..were the Howgills, and associated river crossings, the worst?
OMM Results: – You’ll need to sift through, lots to find, but…
Elite – Phil/Shane – 10th.
Class A – Ashley/Dave Sykes – 2nd.
Class B – Will/Tom – 1st.
Long Score – Tom/Richard – 1st.
I’d badly missed out that “Simon Patton and his partner Dave Troman were 1st on Day 1 of the A. So that’s 1 half of a team being Dark Peak!!!”
Maybe the lesson learnt is that those with the ability and equipment can work through the difficult conditions?…..
Withins Skyline. Results and Report. That Penistone quarry as grim, cold and bleak as ever. Cold showers, the moors wet, boggy and slippery slabbed.
On the Pennine Way heading for Top Withens there’s this deep hole in between the slabs, maybe the Outer Edge Bog Monster has a friend up here. I was lucky, word was passed along the line about the trap, but many others had failed to escape its clutches.
£3.00. free biscuits and coffee at the end, soup and rolls in the pub, prizes aplenty and sweets thrown around at the end – no wonder there is so much respect for everything that the Woodheads put into fell running.
Passing Clouds. Many thanks to Graham McCara for sending the results through. A most strong travelling DPFR set! And with the Roches coming up, easy to share the journey?
Worksop Half Marathon Results. Martin Stocks sends “I know Jon Heathfield ran finishing in 1:45 33 in 536th. I came 50th in
1:23:21 enjoying the warm sunshine through Clumber Park and wondering what all the fuss was about on the news.”
2009 FRA Relays – may well be at Ennerdale, hosted by CFR.
No Wart’s Revenge coming along????
