Rydal Round Results:- News from Trevor Milner:- “A hot, sultry, sweaty leg start for the Rydal Round, then a thankful breeze once we reached Heron Pike [a little different to Borrowdale I think] where Ashley showed me a clean pair of heels as he tested his rested and hopefully injury free legs. A good way of doing a crowd free race of the Fairfield Horseshoe, not forgetting the rest of the events; guides race, bike race, wrestling and the hound racing up the fell and back, brilliant! – even though it did start to
rain by 4pm, gotta keep them lakes topped up.”
Gritstone Tryal Results. News from Martin Stocks.”I ran it yesterday in sweltering heat. A really good intermediate navigational event. Made a bad call to first check cutting across some heather and realised that ‘bashing’ at this time of the year with deep heather is not wise. After that I made some good choices and found myself up to 4th by CP6. Ran with a couple of guys to CP’s 7 and 8 and bumped into Simon Bailey of Mercia, who seemed to have missed a CP and was retracing. Finished 3rd and was rewarded with 4 bottles of local brewed ale! Can’t be bad. Hope it’s not as hot at Borrowdale!” More news.
