Pennine Bridleway Results “A very exciting race for the ladies, with the lead changing several times between Dark Peak and Calder Valley.
Philippa and Jo ran a solid first leg finishing just 1.30 mins down on Calder Valley handing over to Janet and Kelly (running her first relay for the club). They had a flier catching Calder Valley and finishing just 25 sec behind them with the fastest time of the day. Rachel and Jane then had a storming run finishing 18 sec ahead and only just missing running the fastest time of the day by 10sec! Penny and Julia then were passed by Calder Valley but managed to keep them in sight to finish 1.56min down. Chaanah and Kirsty then had the fun(?) of slowly reducing the gap to pass them on the 3km hill with the team finishing FIRST 2.52mins ahead of Calder Valley. Well done to everyone for running so well and also thanks to Lynn for doing the maps and cheering the early legs on. ”
Mickleden Straddle Results
Margery Hill. A lowest ever turnout ?
Rombalds Stride Newspaper Report:- Roy Gibson (43rd in 3.29.52) sends:- “25m (locals reckon it a bit less) 3,500ft . LDWA event but lots of runners, some tarmac but long hard slogs over Rombalds and Baildon moors in snow & ice. Good views going over Cow & Calf ridge then slippery icy descent, mix of tracks, mud and paths then stagger across and over Otley Chevin before long drop back to Guisley (lurching very, very slowly on rubber legs in my case). Well organised, some early CP’s with drink/food, nice big hot dinner to finish.
Plenty of fast runners about, everyone I spoke to use this as early prep for Skyline and 3Peaks”.
Titterstone Clee Results:- a surprisingly good AS classic. We started from a cattle grid on a remote road, in the best traditions of DPFR races. No flags, just slant accurately across the hillside, touch the trig and return, making sure you slant accurately back down to the right place. Simon Bailey just outside one of those longstanding records.
Long Mynd Valleys Results. – dry, but cold and wind battered. As scenic and hard as ever.
