Five days of unbroken cloudless blue skies in Austria. The race was up the Muttersberg (Mother Hill = Mam Tor…) . Avery hard course, relentless climbing up his hill, roads, gravel tracks with a bit of steep woodland paths, nothing like a fell route, but lots of support and encouragement. Superbly organised this year in every way, around 1000runners. , worth going for the occasion, the town, excellent scenery, Austria at its very best. It just needed Willie Wonka, as the aroma from the Milka chocolate factory drifted over the town – loads of cheap chocolate at the factory shop, and a daily hotel visit from the Chocolate Fairy. For the first time there were team prizes, so congratulations to Julie Wilson as part of the winning England L35 Team. Full Results. Medals for John Brown – 2nd V35 : Nigel Gates – 1st V50 : Jane Clark – 3rd V40. Next year is Czech Republic, 6th September, at Dolni Morava, somewhere east of Prague, worth it especially if you can manage to stay over a few days.
