In less good news, Adam Perry’s attempt at the 24 hour Lakes’ record appears to have been thwarted in the last few hours by the weather . We’ll leave it for those in the know to report anon, but from the tracker and twitter, it appears he was still six mins up on schedule approaching Sail (going back along towards Grasmoor), but was then slowed on greasy rocks on the northern ridges of the Coledale valley (not an easy place in weather), making it impossible to stick with the relentless schedule to the end. We all know this is a record that can only go when all the planets align – yet Adam has now indisputably demonstrated he can do it, I think, when conditions allow.

An absolutely astonishing attempt nonetheless. We’re totally gutted for you, mate, and send all Dark Peak’s best wishes for the successful outcome you have very clearly earned next time around.
