An amazing race very well organised and perfect weather in the end! A long drive up followed by a very wet Friday night (it got to the point where we actually thought the rain was never going to stop!) However we woke up on Saturday morning to a dry day and almost warm-perfect!

It was not surprisingly a small turn out for a championship race with only 105 entrants (although the race only had 16 the previous year!!) but most of the usual suspects were there with a good turn out from the borrowdale lads ensuring they won the team prize along with dark peak ladies (thanks to Sally for running after not only reccying the course the day before but also hanging tapes on the morning of the race!)

The course itself was fantastic (although some might argue with this) It had plenty of peat bog and heather thrown in and some amazing climbs and rocky descents (just like kinder!) We were extremely lucky to have good visibilty in the end and the views from the tops were great. Most of dark peak seemed to think the long journey was well worth it and many of us stayed for the evening ceidhli at the Glen Clova hotel. Camping, showers and post race food were all free and the prizes consisted of free nights staying in the organisers guest house!!!

We had some great results with Janet 2nd, Karen 3rd, Jon Morgan 8th, Steve Storey 1st V50, 1st ladies team. Steve Bell, Dave Tait, Richard Horsfield, Sally Ward all had great runs too-results on carnethy website.
