Dark Peak has competed in the Sheffield Way Relay for a number of years, finally winning the race last year! For the unfamiliar, the SWR is a 5-stage, 50 mile paired relay broadly following the city boundary, mostly on trails. The race is (very well) organised by Steel City Striders, is only open to Sheffield based clubs this year is to be held on Sunday 20th September – although unfortunately last year’s team captains John Snowden and Paul Fauset are unable to participate due to other commitments.
If any Dark Peak member is interested in captaining a team for this year’s race please contact Paul paul_fauset@yahoo.com who will run you through what is involved (which isn’t a great deal – and you don’t need to be an elite runner!). And anyone interested in competing in the event please also contact Paul paul_fauset@yahoo.com who will be looking after things until a new team captain can be found.
