Congratulations to team captains Paul Fauset and John Snowden, for leading respectively the Open and Mixed Teams to victories in today’s Sheffield Way Relay. The Open team – Pippa Wilkie & Charlie Elliott (leg one); Will Boothman & Neil Northrop (leg two record); Glen Borrell & Jon Pemberton (leg three); Paul Elliott & Tony Woodard (leg four); and Paul Fauset & Simon Mills (leg five) – finished in 6:12:04, eight minutes clear of the pursuing Sheffield Running Club pair (and notwithstanding a wee hiccup at the leg 2/3 changeover). Was that the Pertex I hear you mention?
Meanwhile, the mixed team (6:58:34) couldn’t quite match their 2012 time, or indeed Totley Ladies (again), but we did beat Totley’s second women’s team, and had no Smiley Pacers to square up to this year.
A special shout out to Tony Woodard, who is a veteran of all four DP Sheffield Way Relays and, it appears, a burgeoning leg four specialist. Thanks as always to Steel City Striders for laying on this pleasant little jaunt around some of the lesser known footpaths of Sheffield.
