The current start list is remarkably small, and seems to be missing most of the faster runners. At the present time it could be the smallest field since 1981 – 30 years ago! Course planner Andy Harmer points out that the course involves the gentle hills of the upper Derwent, where hares skip happily amonst the heather, and views down the valley reward those who venture on this peaceful and tranquil area.
