If yes, now is your chance to tell the Government. We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to extend the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.<\/p>\n<p>\tA public consultation has begun on plans to extend the National Parks, which will run until 16 March 2012. The majority of local people and businesses (68-75%) have already voiced their support for the extension areas over the last two years. The existing boundaries exclude beautiful, inspiring areas of land between the Lakes and Dales that justify national park status.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe Yorkshire Dales National Park extended boundary would include:<br \/>\n\tThe northern Howgill Fells, Wild Boar Fell, Mallerstang and part of the Orton Fells; and Middleton, Barbon, Casterton and Leck Fells, part of Firbank Fell, part of the Lune Valley and fells to the west.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe Lake District National Park extended boundary would include:<br \/>\n\tBirkbeck Fells Common, Bretherdale, Borrowdale, Whinfell, Grayrigg and Dillicar Commons and adjacent land; and Helsington Barrows to Sizergh Fell and part of the Lyth Valley.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tYou can show your support by emailing the Government via <a href=\"http:\/\/e-activist.com\/ea-action\/action?ea.client.id=21&amp;ea.campaign.id=13412&amp;ea.tracking.id=cpre-web\">this website<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Campaign to Protect Rural England, Friends of the Lake District, Campaign for National Parks, Open Spaces Society, Ramblers Association, John Muir Trust, Wainwright Society, and the Yorkshire Dales Society are supporting plans to extend the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
