Dark Peak entered one team in the Trans-Pennine Relay on Saturday 4th<\/sup> March. The Dark Peak team (‘Dogsbane’, don’t ask) comprised Steve Matthews, Mike Bourne, Carl Egdell, Tim Egdell, and Richard Bradbury. We ran 5 legs from Sheffield Town Hall across to The Boar’s Head Inn near Poynton. Weather conditions were near perfect – cool and clear and mostly dry underfoot. We came in 5th<\/sup> out of 12 teams. The winning team, from Pennine, came in at 3:52. We were running 5th<\/sup> mostly throughout but had a few place changes and close calls with Pennine’s 3rd<\/sup> team (the Poppies) which made for a more interesting day, with a final blast from Rich giving us a minutes grace which sounds like a lot but divide that by 5 runners and it’s only 20 seconds or so each so every bit of effort counted in the end!<\/span><\/p>\n

A thoroughly enjoyable day out and credit to Dave Jones of Macc Harriers and his team for putting it on. I hope that we can get a few more teams together for next year and the Dogsbane team certainly hope to be back. No date set as yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

The results are below and, as previously mentioned, while the overall times are undoubtedly correct, having been checked by Geoff and me at the start, the Town Hall bell clearly being electronically controlled, and at the finish, the split times are not guaranteed because some of them had to be provided by either the team captains or by the individual runners.<\/p>\n
